New Books Network Interview: Suzanne Allain

A young man in Regency clothing bends over the hand of a chestnut-haired lady with flowers in her hair; cover of Suzanne Allain's The Wrong Lady Meets Lord Right

What could be a better fit for the holiday season than a light-hearted romance featuring a pair of cousins who, for different reasons—in one case economic and the other emotional—are having trouble fitting in to London’s aristocratic society? Even the title, The Wrong Lady Meets Lord Right, hints at the confusion, pretense, and humor that enliven Suzanne Allain’s latest foray into Regency life.

Read on, and listen to my latest New Books Network interview to find out more. Then make a space among the packages, shut the world out, forget about other responsibilities, and relax into this joyous and emotionally satisfying excursion into a long-lost world.

As usual, the rest of this post comes from New Books in Historical Fiction.

Arabella Grant doesn’t want to deceive London high society. It’s her cousin Lady Isabella, known as Issie, who convinces Arabella to take over so that Issie can nurture her frail health and spend her time reading, which she much prefers to parties. It’s only for three months, after all.

Of course, things don’t go as planned. While Arabella meets the lord of her dreams but can’t tell him who she really is, Issie falls in love with a handsome physician. All of a sudden, three months seems long enough to get both cousins into trouble. This light-hearted romp is perfect for the winter holidays, so grab some cocoa or egg nog and enjoy!
